Ted Hindson retired in January 2019 after 45 years of teaching, scholarship, and service at Texas State University. He joined the Department of Political Science in 1974 while in the process of completing his doctorate at the University of Notre Dame. Legendary for his service to the community, department, college, and university, at various points during his years at Texas State, he served as department chair, as a member of the faculty senate, as a member of the Texas State Alumni Association Board of Directors, as the department’s undergraduate advisor, and as a member (or chair) of more than sixty committees.

He taught classes on a wide range of topics running the gamut from Russian politics to constitutional law, from British politics to international relations, from the American presidency to eastern and central European government, and from international relations to baseball. He received numerous awards from Texas State’s chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honorary Society, was recognized by the Texas State Student Foundation in 2005 and was twice named Honors Professor of the Year.
